Happy New Year to everyone.
As a Feng Shui consultant I deal with balance in our home and work place. It is about the relationship between buildings and people. But we must create balance in our lives as well. We all need to understand ourselves better, to improve our outlook on life and to forgive ourselves and others for wrongs done, real or imagined. We need to explore those parts of ourselves that keep us from achieving our goals. And we need to celebrate those parts of us that assist us in our life’s purpose. This too is part of good Feng Shui.
In the past year and a half I have been involved in a process called SoulCollage® What in the world is that you might ask? SoulCollage® was developed by Seena Frost in the 1980’s as a tool to use with clients in her therapy practice. It is a creative, fun, social as well as an introspective combination of art and your own process of self exploration. You do not have to be an artist to practice SoulCollage®. Just find some magazines, old books, sketches and doodles, gather scissors, glue and backing material. Then start to cut and paste.
In Feng Shui we use and manipulate unseen energies to create balance and harmony. In the collage process you can use your own inner energies to create a piece intuitively. By that I mean that you do not set out to make a card about a specific issue, person or idea. You simply gather images and start putting them together. When you are finished you may not know why you chose those images. But trust me. Put your new card away for a few days and then look at it again. I can guarantee that you will find amazing messages for your soul hiding in there. Another way to create a collage card it to do it purposefully. Perhaps you want to honor an important person in your life. Or maybe you are working through and issue and you want to get it out. You can do it this way too. When you are done making a card you might want to interview it. Ask the following questions-Who am I, What do you have to give to me, What do you want from me?
Over a period of time you will end up with your own personal deck of cards on different subjects. You can consult your deck daily or when ever you have a question about your life. There are generally 4 suits in your deck, each one serving a different outlook. Companion, Council, Companion and Community are the four standard suits. You are free to add additional categories as it suits your personal exploration.
Part of the fun of this process is that you can gather with friends to make cards, talk about them and interpret them. It becomes a time of joyous reflection. SoulCollage® cards are made from original purchased art (e.g., art published in magazines, calendars, books, cards, etc.) and personal materials (e.g., photos). SoulCollage cards are not to be sold, traded, or bartered and are to be reproduced only for the personal use of the maker of the card. SoulCollage cards may be used as examples to illustrate the SoulCollage® process, but it is a principle of SoulCollage that SoulCollage® cards are not for sale, trade,or barter.
